Established in 2013, this scholarship is being endowed by the Fort Worth Dietetic Association (FWDA) to recognize the support and contribution of Texas Christian University faculty and students, especially Dr. Lyn Dart and TCU Community Nutrition students, in planning and implementing the Annual FWDA Scholarship Event from 2006 to 2012. FWDA changed their name to the Tarrant Area Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics in 2014.

This Endowed Scholarship is named after Nell B. Robinson, PhD, RD, LD who began teaching at Texas Christian University in 1957. She was teaching in the Department of Home Economics at TCU in 1963 when a major in Foods and Nutrition was first offered.  Dr. Robinson led the development of the Coordinated Program in Dietetics in 1975. She also served as Chair of the Department of Home Economics and retired as Emeritus Professor in 1992.

A visionary leader, Dr. Robinson was an active member of FWDA holding various roles. She was elected FWDA President in 1968-69. She went on to serve from 1972-73 as President of the Texas Dietetic Association (TDA).  She was also elected as a Texas delegate to the American Dietetic Association (ADA) during the 1970s.

A recognized educator and leader, Dr. Robinson was honored by the TDA as a Distinguished Dietitian in 1981, the first year the award was presented to a member.  Dr. Robinson was also recognized by the ADA in 1990 with their highest honor, the Medallion Award.  The recipient must be:

  • A student enrolled in either the Coordinated Program in Dietetics or the Didactic Program in Dietetics at Texas Christian University in the Department of Nutritional Sciences
  • A member of the Tarrant Area Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
  • Additional eligibility and selection left to the judgment of Texas Academy Foundation
